Trailer Brakes

The brakes on my trailer have not worked well for a couple of years. I chased the wiring for a while, pulled drums and eventually figured I would just buy new drums, already packed with grease and new bearings. I went to install them a couple of weeks ago and realized they weren't that much worse than my current drums. I decided I would do the brake shoes and found out they only sell new backing plates with shoes, so I bought them. The hardest part of the process was getting the 4 rusty bolts and studs off the old backing plates. A grinder came in handy for that.

Since I already had the new drums I decided to get an extra set of backing assemblies and add brakes to the front axle. WOW, what a difference. I took it out yesterday to do the brake break-in and for the first time in years I can lock the tires up again, if not careful.
