Trailer for rent?

I don't seem to use my Big Tex 16' car hauler as much as I should. I am thinking about renting it out. I have a few concerns though:

What is the best way to do this?
Would anyone need to rent it?
If they did, how would I know they would bring it back?:-\
Is it worth the potential headache?
What about liability and damage waivers?

Let me know what suggestions you have.....

Thanks!

I think you'd be crazy to rent it out. You do know how much rentals get abused, right? Add to that a trailer rental...I bet you'd have a worn out trailer in a matter of a year or two. Now, add to that the cost of the up keep, I know our trailers that were being used daily, we had to do bearings and such every couple weeks TOPS. We went through tires like crazy as well. Now, after considering all that, read this thread. I wouldn't even consider it. I hated even loaning out my trailer to family members.

I used to lend my flat deck to friends and it never came back without a problem. Usually broken lights. I lent my enclosed to a friend and it came back with big holes in two of the panels. I did get two new panels, just not installed. I just don't lend my junk any more.

I agree with everyone. Don't rent it out even though you don't use it a lot it is not hurting it just sitting there. Now when you rent it and some Jackass F's it all up then instead of it being in proper working order when you do need to use it, it will be trashed and you will have to fix it before you can use it.
Not only that but it is not worth lending it out not knowing if the person will return it. You know how scum bags are these days they feel they need your stuff more than you.
My advice is save yourself the headache and just let it sit and use it when you need to. Mine just sits on the side of the house and rarely gets used. But when it does I know everything is in working order on it because I am the only person who uses it.

IF I were to rent my trailer out, I'd require a somewhat significant deposit to be used at my discretion for any damages that may be incurred while under use. No arbitration, litigation etc. It's my trailer, if I need to fix something that was broken by 'borrower', I'd use those funds.

..but, I'd not offer it to rent anyway. Just my opinion.

having borrowed a trailer lots, I can say that you prolly shouldn't. I am good to things, but others are not. I borrowed a trailer to haul my trash to moab last fall and on the way back one of the rails broke off. I called him right away and told him I would get it fixed before I brought it back, (which I did.) but others have borrowed my stuff and brought it back trashed, if at all.

That being said, anyone know of a trailer for sale????? I am now in the market, and can't find a decent one.....

No way.

There's a pretty short list of people that I will let borrow my trailer.

However, I have to admit I've thought the same thing, especially regarding a larger trailer....how can I get some money back out of this "investment"?

Brett (gonna borrow Marc's trailer after Bart's done)
