Trans to T-case attachment Qs

Long story short, the reverse is going out in my Th400. I found another one for a good price, but have a couple questions. I currently have my 400 mated to a clocked Dana 300.

First question - The new 400 was attached to a Borg-Warner T-case in a FSJ. Will the output shaft match up to my 300s input (please, please say yes!)? Or will I have to swap output shafts?

Second question - My clocking ring is 3/8" thick, and to get proper fitting on the seal I had to install a speedy sleeve, which I hate. Can I get a 3/8" longer input shaft for the 300 since I have to get in it for other reasons anyway? If so, who has them? Or do I keep using the stupid, WAY overpriced and likely to bend if you look at it wrong, speedy sleeve?

JB Conversions offers one 3/4" longer, that seems too much to me.

Same with Advanced Adapters.

I'm here for ya, Dave! I saw the Tacoma-signal in the sky.

The output in a Qtrac 400 is about 37 miles long. So no, it will not work for you.

The silver lining? When whoever does it disassembles the trans to swap the shafts out, they can take a good look at it and replace any needy parts before they strand you say.. on the top of a mountain between TN and NC.

:D

edit: The B-W Quadratrac is the only BW case FSJ's came with behind a 400. Earlier BOP-engined FSJ's had 400's and a Dana 20. :D

I had to swap the output in my Chev turbo 400, as they have two lengths. It is quite easy to do. Autozone sells an overhaul book for these. Lots of pictures. If you lived closer, I would loan you mine. On second thought, I might be in Moab next weekend. I could bring it, and you could photocopy the pages.

That'd be sweet, thanks!

Sure.

I'd get the longer one if I could cut it down. Alternatively, you could cut a longer transmission output shaft. My concern is "are the splines long enough/deep enough?". :D
