General Tech Transmission gurus...

I just finished rebuilding my AX15 in my TJ. Before I put the case back together, I verified that it would go into every gear. Now, the case is back together and I cannot get it to go into 1, 3 or 5. 2, 4 and reverse are smooth as can be though. What gives? Thanks.

I have never been in an AX15 but i have been inside many others. What all have you replaced in the trans just bearings and seals did you do syncros???

try spinning the input shaft while your trying to put it into first gear.

I did bearings and synchros. Like I said, it would shift while open, but now it will not. I have heard that if you put one of the rails in different than you are supposed to, it will shift while on the bench, but not once it is back together. I dunno. I get to drop it and crack it open. I have to figure out a fueling issue too...

it isn't hitting something (sheet metal from the body)? stupid question just checking off the easy stuff first.

No. I wish it was that easy. I first discovered the problem before I put it in the jeep. I hoped after it had oil in it and spun a little it would work. No luck though
