Transmission jack for Tacoma?

I'm going to put a new clutch in a friends '06 Tacoma. I've never used a transmission jack. But I haven't done a clutch since the world was young and I thought my back would be strong forever either. Thinking I'd like to try using a jack this time...

So, anyway, anyone care to comment on which one of these two HF jacks would be better suited for doing a clutch on a Tacoma that's on jackstands?

800 lb HF jack.

450 lb HJ jack.

Most likely be a one time use, then try and sell it fast here or KSL at a healthy discount. Unless my friend wants to keep it and store it.

Any Tacoma clutch wisdom anyone cares to share I'll be all ears too. Which reminds me, anyone got a preference between Chilton and Haynes for an '06 Tacoma :D.

I've got the 450 one in my garage, it works fine, I've done 2 different tacomas with it (mine with the 2.7L and one with the 3.4L). If you want to borrow mine I work up in West Valley.

The big gotcha I've had is getting the transmission lined back up, usually 2 people can do it, with one it's hard to lift and rotate and see all at once.

If you have a floor jack I have one of these cheap adapters you are welcome to use. We work real close to each other I could bring it in Tuesday. I've used it to drop a super duty transmission without issue

That would be perfect I think. I do have a good floor jack and that would be easier to transport, get from and back to you than the full jack Spork offered up. I'll take you up on it!

Not sure yet if I'm doing the clutch next weekend, or the weekend after. Tuesday should work for getting from you though, as long as me having it two weeks if I end up not doing the job until weekend after next isn't a problem.

Thanks!

How early do you get in? I'm headed to Idaho and can drop it off before I headed out.

As far as getting it back. It wouldn't break my heart if it never made it back so two weeks is nothing.

I used that 800 lb one to pull the trans on my H3. Only thing that sucked is the 4L60e's transmission pan wasn't flat so it made it kinda a sketchy beech and made it kinda difficult to get all the bellhousing bolts lined back up. But im glad I had it for sure, all the tilt adjustments was the only thing that even made it possible. I think that 450 lb model would have been a PITA.
