so the story goes my buddy had a pretty cool, suprisingly capable 84 toyota truck he bought already built. it was one of my favorite trucks to drive due to its long wheel base and being as relieable as it was. well after me barrowing it and me cartwheeling it and haveing a good time the truck got progressevly more and more destroyed, then he let his brother in law drive it on pritchit canyon and having no prior off road driving skills, rolled the truck 4complete rolls down chewy... ouch (btw no injurys).
With 2 huge cracks in the frame a bent roll cage and mind blowing trip to st george, with tracy leading the way:D we decided that the best thing to due would be to turn whats left of the truck into a buggy.

so here we go..

her are a couple pics of the truck before cutting it up to much(bed is removed, and for sale if anyone wants a cool flat bed?)

we removed the cab from the firewall/dash back and the frame from the cab /bpillar back we left the floor/seat mounts becaus it was there it worked and for now we dont have a reason to replace it. eventually we might cut the tunnel out and raise the drive train.

heres the frame rails in a jig i made, they are made out of 1 3/4 dom, we narrowed them in 4 inches total from the stock width of the frame, this truck will remain leaf sprung atleast for now. so far with a track bar we havnt had many problems or complaints, fact is, they work. narowing the frame will will narrow the stance of the leafs and make for better articulation. also it will make the buggy more "rockodynamic" (sort of like aerodynamic, but for rockcrawling:D)

here is the back of the truck ready for the frame rails

Looks good! Reminds me of my old Truggy that I build like that... kept the front clip & firewall & hacked off the rest of the body, then tubed it out. I should have finished that one. :ugh:

I really like how you did the rear 'frame', looks great.

I love it it is simple and will be very easy to convert to coilovers later, keep it up, it proves toyotas never really die, just get reborn

There's almost 6 sticks of 1.5 dom and one stick of 1.75 dom we shortened the truck from 115 to 112. its still very long, with the light rear end it should be a very fun truck for shooting walls, we eventually want to put a 3.4 in it to give it some more power
