Tube Notching on a Bend

OK, I'm working on a bumper for the Toy. I'm building the piece that goes from the bumper to the Frame and have to make a Notch in the middle of a 45* Bend. I have the cheap Harbor Freight notcher & it's a PITA to get the tube in the right spot to Notch, since the clamp is on the bend.

Any suggestions? Should I just ditch the Notcher & use the Cut-Off wheel to notch it?

I would use the cutoff wheel...but I would search for Winmiter download it and it gives you templates you can print out and wrap the tube with then trace it and you will know exactly where needs to be ground...I have a copy of winmiter(its free) on my other computer that I can send you when I get home if you would like...

did you build yours without a notcher???

No, I used a notcher for all the straightforward notches, but for the ones that are complicated, like on a bend, the notcher won't do the job, you just have to trial-and-error it.

I have seen Andy use a notcher once on a bend. Recently, he has been using the grinder to make his notches...maybe it is the experience but he makes some slick notches with that dewalt!!
