I'm cheap too, that's why I have to build all of my own crap. Sometimes the nicer tools are worth the tears and anger saved though. :greg:

Similar design, yes. That's the end of it.
The HF version uses thin/flexible steel for the main frame, a smaller rotating shaft which rotates in bushings, and a pretty weak tube clamp.
The JD or Pro Tools version is heavier/thicker/stiffer, uses a larger shaft, needle bearings, and a heavier-duty clamp
All that means is it's smoother to use, more accurate, and will make your hole saws last longer due to less flex and chatter.
