Anyone used one of these to pour concrete? I have a section about 12x45 and I'm afraid I will kill my wife if I ask her to help me pour that much...

These carts cost more than a 5 yard truck, but I can easily pour 2 1/2 yards by myself.

Any input?

I've been thinking the same for expanding my back porch. It's either this or renting a small mixer and doing it myself.

I've used them several times, both the carts that have a mini mixer and the ones that are just a big dump bed. Good results in each circumstance. The quality of concrete from the mini mixer was probably better, but the dump trailers were easier to pour from and control delivery. My situation was I had a bit of concrete to pour on the back of my lot and didn't want to back a truck up or pay for a pump.

I saw that there was an additional charge for the mixing type, why is the dump easier? I assumed they both tilted.... I did the dump thing before with another company and it was quite imitating driving home with a bucket of crete behind me... The mixer seemed to be the way to go...

We did a 3 yd. pour last summer. It was a pretty affordable alternative. We went to the job the day before and framed it up, and picked up the cart the next morning. Ours sucked because we couldn't get the cart to our job, so we had to dump it in wheelbarrows and haul about 50 ft., but it was still pretty easy.

I've used both. The mixer is MUCH nicer. You can more easily control how much you're dumping with one. The buckets tend to allow the gravel to settle to the bottom, making it a pain to work with at first.

If I remember right, it was $125 a yard last year.

12 X 45? How many trips are you planning on? The section I did last year is roughly 20 X 40. I did it 2 1/2 yards at a time, and that's about all I'd want to work with by myself.

It would be a huge help if your wife could return the cart back to them, while you stayed to work the mud. I had to return it a couple times, and that stuff drys a lot quicker when you aren't there waiting on it. :D

I was pouring into forms and a homemade chute. The dumper was way more accurate and easy to get a small amount in a certain spot - just tilt the dumper enough and guide it with a shovel. The mixer I used, you just reverse direction and concrete comes out all over kersplat! Either would be fine for flat work.

Fully agree here. I used one and didn't have enough help and had to run the cart back out. I was late getting it back and had to hurry the finish on the cement. Make sure you have some help, at least to get the cart back.

Good call on that one BC, I'll have the wife drive it back. I figure I need 6.5+ yards. On the third load (these will come some weeks apart) I will start in another area of the yard to finish off the 2 1/2, just another 16x50' area....

Give me a holler when you get ready to do the big pour, maybe I can come give you a hand.

Oh, and I've got about 1/2 of a roll of Re-mesh left over, if you want to come grab it.

Hmmmmm

No, never mind. I was briefly considering calling them, but a. I'm in @%$%!#@$ Tooele, and b. there is a lot of prep work the concrete company is doing instead of me.

That's a pretty sweet deal though.

Thanks,

Interesting, in all my years of pouring I have never used rebar or mesh. This pad is for the fifthwheel.
