How many current members are there of U4?

What's the attrition rate like? Are any measures being taken to prevent attrition?

Meat has the exact numbers. We have lost a few lately, but also gained a few. It has been hard to keep some members through these tough times, but we are still going very strong.

The best thing to help right now, is to make sure that you are current, and that all your friends and family are aware of the U4. Make sure to stop by our booth at EJS this year. There will also be a U4 booth at the Moab 4x4 Outpost on Friday and Saturday.

As of today we have 713 members. We are down and its partially my fault because I have not sent out expiration notices, and there are 127 members expiring in April alone.

I have decided to do a membership drive after all, details to follow shortly...

While we are on the subject. Do you have to renew membership every year? If so I think i might need to. What do I do ?
You can pay for multiple years (you have to tell me that's what the extra money is for, instead of it being a donation) and you can be a life member.... If you PM me your name I can tell you your expiration date. The easiest way to renew is to go to U4WDA's website... you can reup or extend your membership at any time :)
oops, im one of the 127 that expire this month. i will change that momentarily!
I expired last month and I need to renew too...

Although it hasn't been announced yet, the membership drive started yesterday so be sure to indicate which club you want the credit to go to.

what happens if you dont indicate a club ??

oh, and i just renewed !

It doesn't effect your membership at all, it just doesn't give points to your club in the membership drive (there are prizes for the club with the most points). I'll get the membership drive thread up later today, it will explain everything. :D

oops! mine expired also.
But I've been considering not renewing.
I realize Steve Jackson is no longer pres.
So I may reconsider.
Will the U4 be focusing on issues that most of us are concerned about? Or will it continue to be the same thing I have been noticing with the back bitting and blaming, and the what have you done besides give money, and USA-ALL sucks attitude and so on?
No offence intended, just a bad taste from the last administration.

Now, please keep in mind that I have never been to a U4 meeting due to living 8 hours away so I have absolutely no idea what goes on at the meetings. With that being said.....are you freaking kidding me??? It's TEN lousy dolllars a year when you're an RME member. Is that really too much for you to donate towards a great cause that may sometimes have the overzealous volunteer? Show me any administration that doesn't have a couple of problems especially when it's all done on a volunteer basis. I've seen some of the guilt trips thrown out there, but who gives a rats ass? This is the internet, you can guilt trip me all you want but that doesn't change what I do without anyone watching and knowing what a great advocate I am for the land use issue.

This isn't a who can do better or give more money issue. This is the very simple matter of all of us "off roaders" getting together and fighting for our rights. If $10 is honestly too much for you to put towards the fight of keeping our lands open, you really should consider canceling your RME membership because with that attitude, we're all screwed. But hey, here's another option, if the current U4 state is so ghastly, why don't you give Meat a call and ask how to volunteer and become part of the solution instead of sitting at home b!tching? :)

Who are you??? Sounds like the same old excuses. I won't join while (fill in the blank) is involved. All those people who wouldn't join while Kurt Williams was involved didn't join when he left. All those people who wouldn't join while I was involved still won't. And all the people who won't join while Steve Edmunds is president won't join after he's gone either.

It's a shame, but come up with a better excuse why you aren't interested in helping out. Or prove what a true jerk I really am, and send U4 your ten bucks 'cause I'm gone. I've got #1 largest volunteer project, #1 fundraiser, #1 increase in membership, #1 article writer, and #1 ad sales titles. Come on out and break 'em! Make U4 what you wish it was when I was just screwing things up. I have no doubt someone will come along who is better, smarter, and nicer than I ever could be. That'll be great for U4, and I'm looking forward to it!

Well said and thank you. If more people had this attitude, things would be a lot better for everyone.
