This weeks installment of UA04', is "The Trek to Eureka"

We started last night at aobut 11pm in Sandy...

Headed S. on Redwood til just about Elberta...

Wheeled through the old railroad tunnel...

Found some new rocks to play on...

Took the dirtroad (covered in a foot of snow) to Eureka...

Explored the back roads of Eureka for hours...

Busted is back home via I-15...

Home by 4am...

Good Times!

that is a cool area back in there.. There is some canyons in that area that would be cool to make into trails...Have you done the loop from little Moab, around to the tunnels and back to little Moab from the other side of that mountain range?

Yeah, it is an awesome loop.

Last winter, we went from Fairfield, out to 5MP, then South to Black Rock Canyon, over that mountain range, into Eureka, on the highway for a couple miles and then down the canyon with the RR tunnel at the bottom. From there we took dirtroads along the base of the mountain to Little Moab, and then back over the range to Fairfield. Lots o' haulin!

Here are the pics. There are not too many action shots, but rather sightseeing photos. I had to lighten all of these photos so you can see what is going on, hence the washed out look on some.

That was a ton of fun exploring and playing in the snow. I want to go again, but next time do it without the plastic people watching :eek:

Yeah, that was a really good time last night. We ought to do that more often and just go exploring. Just maybe next time, with 5 people lets take 2 vehicles. My neck is still hurting!!!

Oh, and I want my Tacoma back even more now :(

I think they are still in use... many (at least 50%) of the old store fronts, are boarded up and for sale... the town is literally a ghost town... super cool!

We even rang the town bell at 3am... bet they loved that... ;)
