Unofficial RME Police...wtf

I would like to start a controversial post targeting everybody out there who feels it their right and/or responsibility to bash people's posts saying that they are asking too much money for something or that what they are trying to sell is a bunch of junk. I have seen a huge increase in this of late and fell victim to it twice yesterday alone. If you are one of these people who just cannot control themself, I would like to speak for everybody else and say but out and mind your own business. I'm thinking about copying some of the posts from yesterday in this one to prove my point.

Also, RME is getting to the point where you can't sell anything for what is worth just because some jack a$$ is too cheap to pay more than squaller for it and they quickly sway all of the remaining public toward their opinion.
I myself have low-balled someone but just because that was all I could afford but I always tried to do so in a respectful PM.

Does anybody else feel the same way?

Meh.

I feel your pain, but

1. mods get the egregious violators
2. it is your right to tell them to pound sand
3. don't sell it for the lowball price.

Free market rules!

EDIT: I also think that the real lowballers are just punks. People who know how much something is worth aren't going to REALLY lowball you. Everyone's looking for a deal, but there's no call for disrespect.

I have not tried to purchase or sell anything on RME, therefore I may not have a right to speak out here. I do feel that if a person is not interested in buying something that is posted they should keep their opinion to themselves. I also think that if you don't find what you are looking for at a reasonable amount for your liking you should keep shopping. If the quality you are searching for is not available, you should keep shopping as well.

I wonder how many of these people walk into stores and complain about the pricing or the quality of the merchandise in the store just because they want their opinion heard? I'm sure they would be told to take a leap! Wether it is online, or a place you walk into, the same integrity in the way one behaves should apply.

Absolutley! Unfortunatley, yesterdays comments were deleted, although they were very valid. You should re-post them.
If you have to submit your negative opinions and comments toward another's items, use a PM. You are not the authority to tell the public what things are worth, and neither is eBay.

Although I agree with many aspects of your post, keep in mind that nobody is forcing anyone to sell their warez on RME. There are other avenues one can pursue to sell thier stuff (which may generate a higher price).

With that being said, many people figure that it "can't hurt" to offer less. Budgets aren't unlimited and a lot of folks are trying to get the best bang for their buck.

Ultimately (as always) supply / demand will dictate what the "market price" of an item can be.

edit - I agree with Tacoma, no need for disrespect.

Hmm, I thought that people got rich by knowing that something is worth or will be worth more than what it is currently selling for.

I guess now we know better and it's all cleared up.

I've been looking into buying bulk sweatpants for instance because I think they will be the next new thing.

haha. So the buy low, sell high idea is a farce? Damnit! Well, at least Tacoma cleared that one up for us before anyone got too committed in that scheme. lol

I think your sweatpants might go the way of the Dinar. We'll have to run that by Kurt to be certain.

You said people that know what something is really worth won't low ball you. I tend to think that people that know the value of something will still try and get the best possible deal on it.

I can tolerate low-ballers, but I don't like the usless bashing by people that have nothing better to do. That coke machine post by so and so was funny because I know how collectible those things are. They may not hold value to me, but someone finds value in those weird collectibles. It's like those funny bean-bag animals that people used to collect....

Just like the Dinar, sweatpants have never been publically traded... though there are alot of speculations out there regarding a price jump. Seems with obeisity on the rise in the US, sales are up, volume is down... Walmart can't get the 8 year olds in China to work more than 20 hrs per day. I'll likely be buying a stash today.

Oh year, this thread is a repost :p

I did say that. What I meant was, everyone is looking for a deal, but if you know that something is worth X amount, you'll try to get a deal on it, sure, but you won't be a punk and offer say, .15X for it. We're on the same page about that.

It's easy enough to keep your junk... and yeah, that Coke machine thread was a hoot. Very collectible. We had a sweet Pepsi machine growing up.. my dad and I fixed it up, used it for 10years, and sold it for $1000, guy was happy as hell to get it for that price.

BEANIE BABIES! I've been sitting here thinking "WTF were those damn things called???" I wonder what the 20yr projections are on those LOL

Value is in the eye of the beholder....we've all heard that. Just because you see something that YOU may think is priced too high, doesn't mean that you have to publicly advertise your opinion that will dissuade others from buying. If you're not interested, move on. If something is truely over priced, lack of response may cause the seller to adjust the price, but lets leave that up to the seller. Low ball offers and comments should be PM'd.
Do others agree?

instead of complaining... just report the posts you find in your classified threads to the mods.. they'll handle it.. there's a buttom bottom left for this exact purpose..

whining about it isn't going to change anyone... sorry to burst your bubble..

i do agree some lowballing is ridiculous.. some things, there's just no point in posting here cause that's all you'll get.. ksl, ebay, etc. will have a higher traffic margin anyways.

If you are having problems with people in your classifieds post, please use the "Report this Post" button! We can't always read every classified post (it's the busiest part of our forum) and catch everything.

If people are not following the rules, the posts will be removed if we catch them. :)

Seriously, don't be afraid to report the posts or PM a moderator. We want to keep this place as enjoyable as possible for everybody. The negative and worthless posts will just turn RME into another troll festival like many other larger 4x4 forums out there. We want to avoid that at all cost.
