I always burn them out, it seems to be the quickest way.
Heat up the inner eyelet until you can push it out. Careful, it might pop out and go flying. Then pry/press the melty rubber out. Then just just score or slice the metal casing and it pops right out.
On the leafs on the bronco I had luck with drilling through the rubber, lots of holes all the way around, careful not to mess up the spring eye, then beat out the pieces. Not sure if that would work for you.
