Fishlake National Forest 2012 Travel Maps Now Available

Release Date: Aug 16, 2012

Contact(s): John Zapell, 435.896.1070

Attention Hunters and OHV Users – Updated 2012 Travel Plan Maps are now available at your local Fishlake National Forest offices. The maps are free and specify which routes are open to ATV’s, Side-by-side UTV’s and Passenger Vehicles. Additional recreation information is also included on the maps including non-motorized trails and the location of developed recreation sites such as campgrounds, trailheads and picnic areas.

Maps are available at the following locations:

Beaver Ranger District - 575 South Main St., P.O. Box E, Beaver, UT 84713
Fillmore Ranger District - 390 South Main Street, Fillmore, UT 84631
Fremont River Ranger District - 138 South Main Street, P.O. Box 129, Loa, UT 84747
Richfield Ranger District and Supervisors Office - 115 East 900 North, Richfield, UT 84701

The new maps replace the outdated 2008 version of the Travel Map. Forest users are encouraged to pick up copies of the new map.

Our goal is to manage the use of OHVs in partnership with other federal and state land management agencies, local governments, communities and interest groups so as to protect public lands and resources while providing opportunities for the safe use and enjoyment of OHVs on designated roads, trails, and designated open areas. Please help us with this effort by riding responsibly and being safe.

For additional information, please contact Bryan Carter – Forest Trails Coordinator at 435-896-1047.

Note: The maps mentioned in the press release do not appear to be available online. The only travel plan maps I can find on their website are the 2009 Winter Use Maps. If anybody gets ahold of these maps and finds any trails or roads missing from the previous version, please forward the information to U4WDA. In the meantime, we will contact the Forest Service about getting the maps online.

U4WDA has been in conversation with the Fishlake NF and it appears that they have no intent on providing these maps online anytime soon. It would be several years at the soonest.

However, I picked up a paper copy of the Beaver RD and Loa RD maps at the Loa Ranger Station last week (just one each, they were limited in supply at that office that day). The FS has given U4WDA permission to scan the maps and host them on our website. We are looking for somebody with a large format scanner to help get them in electronic format. If you have access to something like that, please contact Ron Tolman (ate oh one-400-four six five six). Or PM me on this forum. Thanks!
