I will be heading out to Estes Park, CO on Sunday with the fam, truck and camp trailer. I have three options of which route I take. They are seen in the picture below. THEY ARE ALL WITHIN 30 MILES OF EACH OTHER SO DISTANCE IS NOT A FACTOR.

Any pros or cons of each route? Any places I definatly need to see on the way.

I will have 2-3 nights on the way out there, and one LONG day's drive back. So my exploring/camping leg will be the one going out. I will want to come back a different way than I went though.

TIA,
Marshall

Hwy 40 is a scenic drive and I-80 is a boring long stretch of road, If it was me I would take 40 or 70, there both nice drives

Take Hwy 40 out since you have a few days to burn, Steamboat, Kremmling and Granby are places that shouldn't be missed. You can access the Rocky Mountian Nat. Park and Estes Park from Granby, which is a great drive. And you won't have to bother with Denver.

That area is the headwaters of the Colorado river and the flyfishing is world class up there, so don't forget your pole.

I would come back on 70, you can drive back to Kremmling, then turn South on Hwy 9 and find 70 at Silverthorne. You'll drive past Vail, then thru the Glenwood Canyon and onto UT.

Agreed. 40 or 70. Both of those are nice... I might prefer hwy 40 because I haven't driven as much of it. Hwy 40 might seem like more of an adventure too.

I am outa here. I will travel hwy 40 on the way there. I used to drive out to vernal quite a bit, but I look forward to seeing what's further down the road. Thanks for the input and travel tips. I'll have to see I-70 another day. I-80 can wait.
