So Its cool to put ford axles in a Jeep, Chevy engiones in a Yota, Dodge, oops nevermind nothing good from dodge (hehe). So If a Chevy drivetrain is superior and used in most Jeeps and FJ's would it not be good for a Ford also?

I have access to a true Corvette 350 and do to cost restraints am really toying with the idea of putting it in the mustang.

My father inlaw puts chevy motors in his ford bodied race car with EB 9"s in the rear and will swear to it daily. IMO I prefer the chevy drivetrains for there simplicity and abundance of parts, kind of like a Jeep. And the 350 is a classic well liked and dependable engine with many many many upgrades and aftermarket add-ons.

Am I going to drive the rocket train to hell for doing this? Or is it a viable answer?

Screw all that purist bullcrap. You can build a chevy motor to get more horsepower cheaper every day of the week. Dodge motors cost more than Fords which cost more than Chevys. My buddy has a 55 F-100 and a 34 Ford pickup both moved by big block chevy and both bad as hell. There aint one damn problem with putting a vette motor in a mustang...It is a definate upgrade that is for sure!!

It's an upgrade, but is it right? Depends on what your plans are for the future. If you plan on selling it, don't do it. Stick some pos 289 in it. But if your planning on keeping it. I say, its your car so do what makes you happy and don't worry about what others think.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Don't do it....anything but that! :D

Seriously though, you should be able to find carbed 289/302/390 all over the place for cheap. If you want injected just watch the papers for a 5.0 donor, they so up for a reasonable price....or for something different, look for a 90's t-bird superc with the supercharged V6. That could be cool.

I saw a T-Bird ('87-88ish) with a 5.0 in one of the U-pull-it yards out by RMR on Sat. Snag that and the tranny........

I had the 5.0 in my crawler from an LTD(Crown Vic), and it was great, but harder to upgrade and less power than the 5.0 HO in the Stangs, a Cobra motor would be sweeeeet!

Unless you keep it 100% original you just as well do whatever you want with it.

And you don't make enough money bring it back to 100% original.

I say do it, no one should ever be able to tell you what to do with your own vehicle.

However, the reason most people install Chevys motors into anything that moves is blind devotion, easy availability, lack of imagination, pure ignorance, or fear of the unknown. Ford and Dodge engines are no more expensive to build than GM engines, and aftermarket parts are plentiful for them, just not from all of the same outlets as GM parts.

Just don't paint the motor orange!! Paint it blue and 90% of the people that poke their head under the hood aren't gonna know the difference.

That said, it just seems wrong to castrate your Mustang like that. You will have to get new name plates. Ford "Gelding"????

the 5.0 sounds cooler.

If for no other reason, go for the 5.0 ;)

I like the sound of non-chevy v8's. The 5.0 sounds bitchin, and I think the 4.7 v8 in the WJ's sounds SEEXX-Y when it's built. I'm fairly fond of how my motor sounds too--although I do wish it were a little more quiet.
