Does anyone know if a rear receiver hitch off a '91 XJ would work on a 2000 XJ?

I am 99% sure that it will. As far as I know, all that Jeep did was change the skins on the XJ's to make them a little more up to date. The body/frame itself "should" be the same.

I install hitches.
They should be interchangeable. My parts book lists all the same part numbers for both years.
The hard part about most xj hitches are making the holes for the frame, exhaust hanger, skidplate, and the hitch all line up.

? Just curious, what's different?

whern i used to install hitches the 97+ ones had a longer mounting plate and the whole were different than the older ones, i never tried to find out myself i just put the ones on the people ordered and i do remember in one instance on a 93 i believe, that we got a hitch in to put on it and it was way off but the same width tho.
