vinyl cutter/plotter software

What would you guys suggest I use software wise with a vinyl cutter/plotter? Any sites you recommend for vinyl cutting help and such?

We use adobe illustrator.

Inkscape and Make The Cut for the craft cutter, I'd imagine you'd need similar for a dedicated vinyl machine?

Signblazer has a fully functional free trial version. I tried to buy it but they don't make it easy. Here's a link:

Our cutter is a US Cutter brand and it works great. Seems to support lots of brands.
The software works great to import lots of file types and converts them pretty well too. Youtube was my best friend when we got started..

Inkscape is the open source alternative to illustrator if you don't want to pony up for adobe product.

Even with Illustrator we have to pay for the cut plugin to be able to cut directly from the software. I think its about $100 a year for that license.
