Kami and I decided to celebrate the end of the semester by skipping town for the weekend. We thought it would be fun to go check out the W.E.Rock event that was in Cedar.
We also decided that it would be fun to participate in the event a little bit and volunteer wherever we were needed. We showed up Saturday only to find out they needed judges We were pretty nervous, but quickly learned it's fairly simple. Seemed like most of the day I was just staring at cones.
We judged the Pro Mod division both Saturday and Sunday. Sat on course B3 and Sun on A3. It ended up being a really fun experience, and we were glad we went down there. I wish I would have been able to see more of the comp, but the Pro Mods had 22 rigs competing IIRC. This was by far the biggest division so we were on our course all day. We had to send people to grab our lunches b/c we were so busy (then try to eat it as fast as possible).
A few things I learned:
1-Most of the teams were really cool and it was a great experience being able to rub shoulders with some of them. 2-Sunblock is a good thing, even if there is cloud cover. 3-My feet aren't used to being walked on all day stupid office job... 4-The huge differences between competitive rockcrawling and recreational rockcrawling.
I didn't get a ton of pics, once again, because we were busy from 10am to the end of the day. There were a few moments I was able to sneak in a picture or two.
Enjoy!
More pics and info can be found on thePOR coverage of the event. There are a few shots that I showed up in on the live event coverage.
