I love how just about every rock crawling obstacle is referred to as a “Waterfall”

This is a water fall!

Note the key word – WATER ..

What gives with all the darn “waterfalls” (water on the brain?)

We're all idiots with zero imagination when it comes to naming new obstacles. :D

That missing rock didn't just get up and walk out on it's own ;) Water fell there, for a reallllllllllllllly long time. Although it seems that a lot of people do call just a straight up cliff a waterfall as well.

That's what I was thinking, didn't know the name. I've heard there are some very cool places down there that you can also get to rafting....some day!

I have often pondered the word "Waterfall" in relation with Four Wheeling as well as Stinger, Big Meats, Deep Gears, Yee Haw, and Jeep for a long time.

So far none of them make sense

Would it not be just as silly to make up words for these things? A ledge in a creek bed, whether dry or not, that water (can) cascade off of qulifies to me as a waterfall. Yes, it has possibly been overused. Double whammy isn't a double waterfall, for example.
This is just another example of "grey areas" where there isn't a clear cut definition of the term.
When you start adding tube to a Jeep, at what point does it become a buggy?

So I'm drawing a blank on all those climbing words you were throwing around.... but I'll wager some of them make just as much sense ;)

put deep gears in the axles of your jeep to turn your big meats so you can yee haw up that water fall and don't worry should you roll your stinger will save your hood.:D

does it make sense now?
