Waynes World Carnage

Well I drifted out to 5 mile today, and met up with wayne hartwig and marcus(Goat) at waynes world today. I went first and made it first try with a little finesse. Then wayne tried to no avail. Then Marcus tried and with some taughting from me made it with some heavy throttle. Well while throttling I heard a pop and checked it out to see nothing. Then I heard some more snap crackle pop and out popped a u joint cap from the front axle. Then we tried to get him out the top and then it all hit the fan. Took out the u joint, front alloy inner shaft, and seperated both ball joints and left it in a very hairy place to work. Well we ended up jacking it up on the front axle with a scisssor jack sitting on marcus's spare tire. We then lifted it from the rocker with the highjack and was able to seperate the knuckle and tire from the axle. But what a mess. Wayne was able to call his wife and she met him at the trailhead with a set of new ball joints and a hand press and we were able to get it all back togther, long story short with out the inner shaft.

Wow, that's some quality Dana 30 carnage! I'm impressed you guys got it back together! I believe that's about the same thing MBryson did on the waterfall on Rattlesnake.

Yep it was pretty much all waynes and his wifes doing. She brought the ball joints and press out. If not I was gonna have to chain it back togther or something:D

Big thanks to everyone that helped out!

I dont think we could have picked a worse place to work on it:rofl:

It took an hour and thirty minutes to get home but, the old goat did just fine. The old D44/30 has treated me well but, I had plenty of time to think about stepping up to 60s on the way home and have some decisions to make.

On a side note. I e-mailed the vendor concerning the warranty on the shaft and he sent a reply within 30 minutes from his cell. Alloy USA are good guys to deal with!

Wayne, I think maybe you should just start to carry a set of B-Joints with you from now on :) Then no one will break! (unless you forget to carry the press)

Oh, and it was very cool of you (and your wife) to help him out. You set the standard pretty high for "jeepers"!

I guess the sherrif has to wait for aother day to try W.W., since you were broke on it and he didn't get to play too.

lol They (the parks and rec guys) said the same thing... After Goat broke, one of them commented he was walking back to the truck after Goat made it up the first ledge and now that he was in the way broken, he can't go...With a sarcastic 'thanks a lot guys' ;) They've been out there watching us a lot. I've seen them a handful of times that I know of...

Gotta help out fellow wheeler's... I'm just glad I had the parts in stock and the wife was cool enough to bring them out!! :D

It's funny though.... The days you break, you have the best times wheelin'. Notice that? I know at the time it's no fun, but later....

Well, for the record I think some rocks need to be there to fill in the hole at the bottom from people who sit and spin their tires thinking the traction from the mud they dig up will somehow help propell them up the ledge! JMO

Word has it that Goat had both feet on the hate pedal on the way up Waynes World.......something was gunna give!

Rev limiter and floating valves is the Goats stress relief!

Sounds like somebodys got a guilty consious. Besides you can't prove it either way, whether you were stacking or removing from that pic. I guess we will just have to use our best judgment from the proof provided:p
