My Buddy and I went out on some dead rails in Nevada.
We derailed once! (Someone took a 30 foot section of track out and stole the ties) Fastest spend was 37.5 mph. What a RUSH!!

We've been running these rails for about 12 years. It really is a kick!
Just one more thing the truck can do! Yes! Because we can and most people can't!

Max hy-rail speed is 25 MPH... -_- That probably was jointed rails, wasn't it? 37 MPH on jointed is scary in any vehicle, even one built for hy-railing. No wonder you were looking for a push cart. I take it that hy-rail wheel had the correct bolt pattern for the Toyota?

You're nuts Jeff, I might have to show that to some of the guys I work with. Oh... I'd ridden in a hy-rail truck going over 70 MPH on some pretty nasty track. :ugh:

My uncle used to have a couple of speeders. Which were like 1/4 of a caboose in size and we used to run them on abandoned tracks and with permission from the RR in Washington state.

Greg, It was jointed rails in pretty bad shape. We did 32 miles of rail with an average speed of about 23 mph. For the last ten we did about 32 mph.
The rims were an eight bolt, machined by a friend to fit the 6 bolt. They are even drilled to fit a Subaru. Those carts are still sitting in Faust...oh btw.

The only tunnel we have done is the Hogan Tunnel off the UP. We ran behind an Amtrak one day on Motocycles. 1 1/4 quarter of shear terror!!

We actually looked at getting a speeder. The price went up dramatically right when we were looking, so we used the rims.

Does this mean you've been running on live rails in the past??:ugh: What do you mean "on motorcycles", riding between the rails? That would be a rough ride.

No Running the truck on live rails...well maybe one day we did. They said there was no trains going to be on the rails, but we didn't asked if any MOW guys would be on.....WOOPS!
The tunnel rails and ties had just been redone, so the ride wasn't too bad.
We just waiting for the train to pass and hopped behind it on the motorcycles and rode through the tunnel. Didn't really see a whole lot.
