Anyone know what these rooms are for?

They are located ~15 miles North of Moab, you can see them just of the highway if you are looking. They only go into the mountain a couple feet, there are several of them in the vicinity... along with what looks like some old cabins? The opeing is rather small (couple feet tall) so it isn't a mine...

Think it was some sort of "icebox"?

What does it look on the inside? If the roof is rounded on the inside I would bet that it is some sort of oven.

Some old guy told me a few years back that they were used to store explosives in. But hey they could house little green men.

that is what i have been told also, there are about 10 that i know of between bull canyon and little canyon also there are a couple just off of poison spider. i have also found a tunnel entrance but it is caved in so can't go far, my boss's dad & grandpa used to work for a bunch of mines around here in the good old days and he has a few maps i've been able to peak at that show all sorts of tunnels and storage's in the area.

You can find similar structures in just about any mining area. I have also been told these are used to store the explosives. Makes sense, too. When one of those blows up, the mountain is gonna absorb most of the impact, rather than spreading shrapnel all over.

Wonder if there is anything still laying around down there, It almost looks like they were buried with dirt and then abandoned, only now they have been uncovered......

It is not uncommon to find old dynamite and blasting caps laying around in and near old mines. It's really dangerous stuff because the NG contained in the dynamite seeps out over time and puddles at the bottom, and it is no longer stabilized by the other compounds in the dynamite. Just touching it has the potential to set it off.

I've seen dozens of old storage spots, mines, etc... Even found some bags of powdered NG in a mine down by Moab.... But these ones are rather different, there are no mines within a mile of these spots?

NG isn't a powder you dolt! You were probab ly looking at bags of Ammonium Nitrate.

If you look at the USGS' Moab 1:100,000 series map it has the label of "Shinarump Mines" for the area where these "rooms" are located. As such I have always referred to these rooms as the Shinarump Mines. Obviously, given their size the "explosive storage room" explanation carries some logic.

Here's a link from mindat.org regarding these exact "mines":
