Add o n KSL for my toy hauler asking 9k which was lower end of book / market value.

Ksl dude: would you take 4500 for your trailer?
Me: no
KSL dude:how about a trade, I have a xzy snowmobile.
Me: how much is it worth?
KSL dude: 7k
Me: would you take 3500?
Ksl dude: touche.

Good one. Now when someone texts me a low ball offer I counter by adding difference of the low ball to the original price. For example a guy offered me $1000 for tires I had listed for $1200. I texted him back saying how about $1400? To which he replied the ad says $1200. I said deal! He was like what the...
I sold them to him for $1100 and I think we were both okay with that.
I try to have fun with people as much as I can.

if you trade a car in at a dealer and you were buying a $5000 car and your trade was worth $5000 then you would not pay any tax.....,

Are you sure about that? Seems like last time I traded a car in at the dealer they taxed me on the sell price of the car and not on the amount I needed to bring in. Wouldn't that be the same thing? I have never traded straight across, and imagin most people haven't either.

You're only taxed on the difference between the purchase price of the new vehicle and the trade in value. If your new ride is $5K and your trade is $4K, you pay sales tax on the $1K difference.

That's good info. It may make a difference when concidering selling a car private party or trading it in. You'll get less in trade but maybe make it back on taxes, so why wait for private party to buy it and stay off ksl where you may only get trade offers. Win win.

That's not what I was getting at. My comment was based more on the "no one is using cash these days", which to me screams solialism or worse.


Mostly I just posted up this thread for the humor in it and not so much to debate on downfall of our government, although that is worth a discussion. I am "old school" and I doublt I will ever take a trade when I'm selling something. I mean how many people out there are looking sell a ballast system that will fit my boat?

I would totally go the other direction, people trading for goods screams FREE MARKET to me, you have one person wanting to trade one item they don't need for an item they do need, where as in socialism you would have one person just trying to sell something and the other person thinking they should just be give the item for nothing because they want it. I love the small communities that people help each other and trade items or services to their neighbor, but in a socialist regime the government wants you to depend on them so they can control you..... totally different in my opinion.
