I have always been rather pleased with the welder I have now although it is a just a small 185. Well I am moving up in the world and need something with a better duty cycle and was wondering if anyone had any feedback on this welder. I know there are the guys that say if its not blue or red then it aint worth a CRAP lets leave that out of this thread please.

Here it is:

I really like the 15ft gun and 60% duty cycle

I believe Hobart is made by Miller. I would absolutely buy that machine. Looks like a great price too, but I would check a few local places before ordering. I've used a couple Hobart and I have been impressed with the quality.

seriously though, When I was buying mine it seemed like hobart and miller were similar, but miller was made with more beefy internal parts. Most of my friends who have hobarts love them.

I have a Hobart 175(?), but have really liked the adjustibility features of the Miller or Lincoln welders I've used of other people. However, I've not ponied up to upgrade mine as it works most of the time for what I need it to. The exception is welding thin metal. That's a b!tch anyway, but with my Hobart, it's totally a pain. It works ok with .025 wire and tips, but it'd be nice to have more heat settings (I have four, 1, 2, 3, 4).

lol thanks davy for that. Im glad you all support my decision cause I already ordered it................:D

my uncle has a machine shop, he used to have an old mig hobart. he loved it and would still have it if it hadn't gotten stolen :( another plus for that model you apparently already purchased, is it has a cart built into it that the blue or red ones usually don't...

see, now you have a tube bender and a good welder. you can build me a killer cage now!

As mentioned, Hobart is made by Miller, but some of the internals are made of plastic instead of cast parts like in the Millers. You will be happy with that machine, especially for hobbyist work.

Caleb that is correct. I was reading on some of the welding forums and it seems like the cast parts from a miller will directly swap into the hobart for a very reasonable cost

bring it out when your ready and we will bend you up a cage.

Well after very impatiently waiting for the last 2 weeks my welder should be here tomorrow!!!!! I am very excited and I will make sure to update the thread with how it works and maybe even lay down some side by side welds with a miller to see how they compare

It finally showed up about a week ago and I am super excited about it. I finally had some time the last couple days to sit down and actually play with. To say the least this is an amazing machine you would have to actually try to make a weld look like a crap with this machine. I have welded with a buddies miller 212 and As far as weld quality other than the shape of the MIG gun You cant tell your welding with a cheaper machine. and the ergonomics of the gun is all personal preference anyways.........I LOVE THIS MACHINE!!!.......BEST MONEY EVER SPENT
