I don't know exactly why, but I'm not real thrilled with the vans on that trail. I'm not a big fan of the bypasses anyway {you're kind of dumbing down a pretty cool trail if you take all the obstacles--BYPASSES SUCK...if you MUST take them, find a different trail}, and if you let vans in, you might as well let the Mustang club run the trail too......stack a few rocks, maybe cut the sandstone out so they can make it up and down the hills................maybe just pave it. That'd be cool........

I'm all for people having fun with their chosen rig, but there are appropriate places for rigs to travel safely......I'd hate to have something happen to someone in an unprepared rig. Those are probably as unprepared as possible.

All of the above is just my opinion......

i understand that this is your opinion.... but WTH???? i mean seriously? what fun is doing a trail you know you can do with no problems? i went off to do PSM in my stock zuk when everyone said 'no way'(i understand it's no the hardest trail either). point is, why limit everyone to a "safe trail"? something they know they can do, that wouldn't be the least bit of a challenge? vans on Hell's?? Boo F'in Hoo! i witnessed an H2 with 23" DUBS, and the sticker in the window on Hell's... i'd rather say i wheeled it in a Toyota van, than an H2! Mustang Club? get real..... what's your defintition of an 'unprepared rig'? personally, i would say i have wheeled my 'unprepared rig' for afew years now... i've done trails that required at least one locker, lower gears, maybe a winch or something... i still made it through in my stock days... unprepared? who cares? i went, i saw, a conquered..... big deal.

you're forgeting, it's more driver than vehicle....

All of the above is just my opinion........ :p .......... :D

i have to say its unfortunate you feel that way! i guess your saying you never wheeled a stock rig? or never used a bypass?
who is to say that the bypass wasnt the original trail and some jackass with big tires went to find a more challanging rought!
his van is 4x4 and soon to be locked!! they are actuall designing lifts for them!! so what happens when he is running bigger tires than you... do you feel it would be right for him to tell you what to do?
i have seen a few built rigs not make it up tipover..(mainly because of lack of driving skills), but does that mean they should not be able to run and enjoy the trail?
i dont encurage bypasses or rock stacking....

everyone has to start somewhere!!

i think if someone wants to take there geo through upper hell let them, as long as they stay on the existing trail!!!

I did PSM in my wife's ZJ. What's the point? Do I think I should have been there? NO. I could have easily bent a tie rod, broke the D35 and would have been at the assistance of the RR4Wheelers (who I'm sure would have helped--good eggs, for the most part) to get my 3 kids, 2 dogs and my wife back to safety. Why put yourself in that position? I don't even think I had enough liquid to keep everybody going for more than 2-3 hours.....one of the dumbest things I've ever done, IMHO.

I think we all find challenges on the trails we run. I'd have to agree that you should push the envelope a little.....(I drive an XJ....and it's done some things that are kind of unusual to that vehicle).........When are the Outbacks going to conquer Hells Revenge????..........Did the van's 'conquer' Hell's Revenge? I'd say NO. They took the bypasses.

All I'm asking is that people are responsible and prepared on a trail. Having someone bail you out if you get in a jam and are unprepared should be embarrassing, not a moment of pride. If you haven't broke, you will. Be prepared. If you're prepared, you're more able to help someone else that may not be as prepared as you. That's the fun on the tougher trails, IMHO. Getting into a 'pickle' and getting your rig back with the help of your friends, your wits, and whatever tools and 'stuff' is in a vehicle.

My point: If you're driving a basicly stock van, stay to a 3 or lower trail......take the obstacles and enjoy what that trail has to offer. If you've got a Matador, maybe stick to the fire roads. Hell's Revenge isn't my favorite trail, and it seriously drives me nuts to have someone say they've run that trail and haven't driven the major obstacles. To me, bypasses are for crippled rigs and shouldn't be part of the trail. I've not enjoyed seeing Hells Revenge and other trails go from what they were, to what they are. I guess that's the price we pay for the popularity of our sport. I don't have to like it.
