Did just the injector pump go bad? Or did the lift pump fail, taking the injector pump with it? That's what seems to usually happen. I would replace or at least test the lift pump before you drive it with a new injection pump. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? I've been told you can monitor the lift pump with a fuel pressure gauge and save the injector pump when you see the pressure drop. That's the first (and likely only) mod I'm going to do when my truck is almost out of warranty.

The code its showing dictates the IP is gone. I will be replacing the IP and the LP.

and I will be putting a FP guage in.

I got 111,000 miles before it went, so I should count myself as lucky. Some go out with as little 30,oo miles on them.

I feel for you. Most people would have to take out a loan for a $2,000 fix, and that would suck! :mad2:

I have been in the same boat before, but I just didn't drive the vehicle until I saved up the cash. I then realized I didn't need the vehicle as much as I thought, and when it was fixed it went up for sale.

Good luck.

what year is yours again?

Did you have any pre-signs of it going out? Lack of power?

I think my LP might be going. After my last fuel filter change, she took quite a bit of coaxing to start back up. Even after I pulled the injector lines to bleed them out!

Mines a 2001 w/ 154k

its a 2000.

I been thinking and it may have been slipping on power for a year. I been noticing for a while that my milage has dropped off a little but could never put my finger on it.

I had a hiccup with the truck in sept '05 but, kinda deemed it as bad fuel, I think I was wrong :( .

I'll be calling these guys tomorrow, leaning towrd the "blue chip" pump.

I also found a place in Texas to call that sells the pump for just under a grand.

The cummins dealer wants 1935.24   :ugh:

thats just for the IP.

I have 120,000 on mine and so far I've been lucky with the injection pump. Although I've gone through 4 lift pumps in the last 3 years, payed for the first one and the rest have been warranted.

I'm not sure why I keep going through them, the only modification I had was an edge ez, I just put in some bosch 275 injectors a few months ago. I had Gillette replace it with a stock pump each time, I'm actually going to take it in this week for the 5th time. My fuel pressure drops to 5 when I'm idling.
