It's definitely dubbed over, obviously a knock off of the popular "Vikings", but a *decent* time filler when stuck away from home with nothing else to do but spend money or be bored.

We let our son watch two episodes of Bluey before his nap and before bed. Since they are each about five minutes, its perfect. We've burned through every available episode probably three times and I still crack up watching it. Bandit is hilarious, but my favorites are Muffin episodes.

Watched "Cross of Iron" today. A 1977 war film about the German retreat out of Crimea in 1943 staring James Coburn. I'd never seen it before. Not what I'd call a "great" movie, but really good. And damn, it is brutal. Like even for a 45 year old movie, it's a hard R for violence.

If you like James Coburn, WWII movies that are a bit different, or have an interest in the Eastern Front, it's worth a watch.

My wife just started watching The Handmaid's Tale. It was in the background while I was reading and I kind of got sucked into it.

It's like Man in the Hightower, only if Florida and Texas were to overthrow our government.

I watched the first 2 seasons and while it has it's moments I couldn't get over the timeliness (stqrt of lockdowns to full Gilead happens in like 5 -8 years) I also got so tired of the extreme closeups of the main character withe her just looking forlorn. After 2 seasons I was just done. My wife still finished it and liked it.

Ohh, the closeups are the worst! It's super awkward, and maybe that's the intent? It's too much though. We just started season 2, but I can totally see how the story line could lose me pretty quickly. Lots of hit shows just spin out of control....Westworld, Walking Dead etc.

Ya, the timelines and the weird juxtapositions of classic conservative culture and semi modern technology are weird. I don't know that I find the timeline as unbelievable as the presumption that modern technology would have allowed them to harvest viable eggs and implant them in viable wombs...or incubators. I also think in a situation where that wasn't possible, the remaining viable women would probably be willing to carry the torch for humanity and produce babies...just let them be taken care of and paid handsomely for their service. But, that's not as good of a plot ha ha.

My timeliness issue was more how they start getting into the chaos when her daughter looked to be around 4-5 if I recall. Now, here it is and the daughter is around 10-12. In those years Gilead became a n actual "country" imposed new vocabulary and speech patterns and completely dominated a previously free society. Granted I can see it happening in reality, not just in that quick of a timeframe...but I am very much that say with things and get accused of nitpicking shows quite often. Hahaha

Jay Leno talks about one of the coolest racing series there ever was. Trans-Am still exists, but its just not the same. I watched a bit of the Trans-Am category last year when I was at the Monterey Historics, and it was so cool to see Mustangs, Camero's, Javelin, and AMX's running around Laguna Seca.
@bobn was there back in the day, though. The race posters he got then now hang above my son's crib. Hopefully they'll inspire him.

Variety is the spice of life, Cody. He has dozens of diecast cars to choose from of all different makes and models. But who wants to play with a Camero when you have a Bugatti EB110 you can drift around the hardwood floor? Or a boring Land Cruiser when you can choose a Geländewagen to drive up a mountain of pillows?
