What is your overall take on the Hawaii experience? Glad you did it or a waste of time and money?

I know a few folks that thought it would be a lot better than it really was.

My goal by the end of the year anyways was to get out of the construction industry. I haven’t been truly happy with what I do for work for the last few years and my plan was to get out of construction and into a less stressful and more rewarding job. Had I done that I think I would have enjoyed the stay more. I don’t like my coworkers and also the company I ended up working for here. (Poor management, poor communication etc). Other than work I have no issues with my stay in Hawaii. It is harder to get some things here, especially anything hazmat. But not a dealbreaker.

The plan was to still stay here in Hawaii and just enjoy life more. Get out on the ocean more etc. but then I ended up reconnecting with a woman I knew a while ago and we hit it off and yeah then Connecticut got put on the plans.

I did end up losing some money on things in whole, like the first Ranger burning down, selling the XJ for way less than I had into it, tools selling for less than what I paid for them etc. but I also made good money at my job so in the end I kind of am almost in the same financial situation leaving here as when I got here. A little less in savings but not much less.

I pick up my new Gladiator supposedly shortly after making it to Connecticut for good. (I’m going up to CT this weekend, then to Utah for Thanksgiving to see family I haven’t seen in a year, then back to CT for good the week after thanksgiving and my Gladiator should be done by then.

Overall I wouldn’t move back to Hawaii again, not anything against the islands at all, but just that I’ve “been there, done that”

If CT doesn’t work out long term then I’ll likely move somewhere still stateside (not Utah), just depending on the current life situation. I went up to CT the week before SEMA and loved it up there. I could see myself living there even if things don’t work out with this girl in the end.

I wouldn’t say it was a waste of time here. Had I known I was only going to stay 11 months I would have spent money and time differently, but that wasn’t planned.

Almost all the best and almost all the worst decisions I ever made involved women. I'd probably do most of the worst ones again though. Those crazy ones all end bad, one even tried to murder me, but for awhile, it's crazy good. And I'm one who would rather regret the things I did, than the things I didn't. I have plenty of things I did to regret when I die. Not much that I didn't.

You need to write an autobiography. I’m convinced of it.

It looks like you're enjoying the limited slip abilities. How are the gear selection working? Are you liking the RPM range at cruising?
The 3.90's really woke this thing up, especially with the loose 3200 stall converter I put in.
With the overdrive and lockup the cruise is still great. I want to say i saw it was still just under 2500 rpm at 85mph. It has a pretty large tire though. The 275/50/20 is like 30.5" tall.

It pulls so much harder now it's really a different truck and matting the throttle at anytime instantly brings the rpm up over 3000 rpm where the cam is happy and it's making boost.

The only complaint currently is that I have to extend the blow off valve discharge out front or underneath somewhere, when on the freeway at light throttle a ton of air is bypassing as the charger is spinning fast enough to make boost but with the throttle not open it all gets bypassed and it's pretty damn loud in the cab.

I didnt even have to try and power brake it to get them spinning. I just stopped, let off the brakes, and floored it.. I'm guessing if I power braked it I could leave an expensive but endless pair of stripes.

Glad to hear those are working out well JJ.
