What do I get for the next bike?

Oh I cleaned, re-greased and rebuilt my suspension linkage before Mesquite.
I was surprised to see a little surface rust on the needle bearings on the lower-most bearing. Definitely a lot of water crossings last year. I was amazed at how quickly Rustoleum Rust Dissolve took off the surface rust. They were still in spec (diameter) so no need to replace: just repack with grease and go.
If you other guys haven't done this lately, I'd definitely recommend checking all your linkage bearings. I'd greased mine less than a year ago.

I picked up a Yamaha GYTR Power Tuner and I'm playing with the tunes to see what's up.

It's cool because it will let you see what each sensor is telling the computer and you can create your own custom fuel and timing maps, and you can store up to 10 maps on the tuner.

It's also refreshing to look at the run-time and see that the previous owner was honest with the hours and told me exactly what they were at when I bought the bike.

I didn't know this was possible, that's cool! So the bikes computer stores a history?

Ya the ECU records the run time and stores fault codes. It will also tell you current Engine Speed, Intake Air Temp, Engine Temp, Air Pressure (in Inches of Mercury), and Throttle Position.

You can do 100 times more stuff than jetting and it's as fast as the touch of a button. Each point on the scale is 3% so you can add/ subtract fuel at any RPM and throttle range.
Or increase/ decrease timing 1 degree per point.

I rode it around a bit in the yard with the "woods racing" map today, I really liked the smooth power delivery and got it plenty hot and stopped the motor many many times and it always seemed to start first kick, so perhaps it's a better map for starting, or maybe the temp sensor is only malfunctioning when it gets heat soaked after 1/2hr or more of riding? We'll see if a new sensor cures my hot start issue completely when it shows up.... I'm kinda bugged: I ordered it 7 days ago and I don't have a tracking # yet.

My clutch just started slipping the other day, so I pulled it apart to inspect.
The clutch basket was getting a little notchy.

I filled the basket smooth and measured the clearance. According to the book I'm ok, but I've got my eye on a new WiseCo basket.
I put some new fiber discs in too. This clutch pack has lasted about 80hrs, so I'd consider that pretty good life.

It always seem to groove quicker once you get to the point of filing it. Bite the bullet and get billet basket as soon as you can.......especially with dead engine starts.

That's the plan.

I always get hundreds of hours out of a clutch. I'm I doing it wrong or are you Stratton? Are rekluse harder on the fibers?

I think racing is just hard on stuff, prior to last season I never really went through clutches and brake pads: now I do.

Me too even with a recluse

I seems like the Rekluse introduces more heat in to the clutch pack. There is plenty of material left on the fibers, they are just heat glazed. My that thoughts are that because the basket was getting notchy; I was getting less clamping force, so it caused the clutch to slip more at high rpm and heat glaze the fiber discs. They looked pretty good when I inspected them last (just prior to the Mesquite race).

Clutch fiber discs are relatively cheap, so I'm not too concerned.

The Price Drunkard's Wash Race went awesome.
I got 4 laps and ended up finishing 5th in class and it looks like 25 or 26th overall Nov so I finished quite well.
Despite a bad start I pulled to the head of my wave by the time I reached the end of the track and after the first lap only had 2 or 3 riders pass me in the following 3 laps.
Bike ran extremely well. Not even one stall which absolutely made my day!

I'm starting to need sprockets and chain.
Luckily, I picked up SunStar as sponsor for the 2015 race season and they hooked me up with a great deal on some drive products.

The Works Z now is finished with electro-less nickel plating which gives the sprocket more of a brushed/natural stainless appearance but does not compromise in performance, durability, corrosion resistance, etc.
Constructed of the highest quality, stainless steel and 100% heat treated for the ultimate combination of strength and durability.
Unique, exclusive off set tooth design for exceptional self cleaning capabilities, extending the life of the entire chain drive system by removing mud and dirt more efficiently.
Perfect for using in adverse off road conditions where extremely wet, muddy and/or sandy conditions are encountered.
Up to 50% lighter than the same part in standard steel (depends on application and number of teeth).
Twice the hardness of standard steel and 20% laterally stronger; up to 3 times the overall life.
5 times the hardness of aluminum and up to 10 times the overall life.
