What do you take camping?

What kind of gear do you all take with you? Camp gear, parts, things like that?

My list is basically this:

tent
sleeping bag
two food coolers, wet and dry
recovery strap
shovel
trash bags
various oil and fluids
tool box
stock jack :ugh:
lighters
binoculars

Dunno why I'm asking, just seeing what random things people bring :p

A few random, luxury items I bring...

beto's burritos (cook 'em on the intake manifold, 20 minutes before hitting camp)

a 10" thick queen sized air mattress (inflate it with the C02 tank)

camp chairs (chairs because there's always someone without one)

firewood (for desert areas where firewood might not be readily available)

tons of extra Scout parts (front hub, bearings, driveshafts, u-joints)

a big box of nuts, bolts, washers, etc of various sizes (one of the most valuable trail items i've ever assembled)

Beto's? You just but a bunch of them and keep them cold till you're ready to cook?

Forgot about the chairs....I've got my one!

Yup. Let 'em air cool at home, and then wrap them up with foil at room temperature and throw 'em in the fridge. It'll keep 'em from getting soggy. I usually get a couple breakfast burritos and a couple california burritos. Very good camp food that's easy to make.

I bring Brett.

he cooks, cleans, and fixes my rig when it breaks

it's true though.

I used to pack pretty good. I had all may camping gear in my truck box--just loaded it up and off. 5 seconds of packing.

But to be honest I bring whatever I need. I bring different things when I back pack than when I take the jeep---and different things when I go to the desert than when I go to the mountains.

Does anyone question why Brett does not add any clothing or hygiene items on his list of things he brings camping

Rumors have been confirmed

Brett IS a hippie

That's just standard day to day stuff, so I just counted it in my head......now if I could only figure out where I left my Sun Shower, I'd bring that with me too. -_-

For me, there's a difference between camping and cruising up AF Canyon for a night.

I haven't been real camping in years. I don't know what to bring anymore.

For AF Canyon trips, it's the sleeping bag, pillow, basic tools and high lift, and a cooler full of junkfood and Mt Dew. Who needs anything else? For breakfast, just eat whatever didn't get eaten the night before. Doritos and warm Mt Dew anyone? :greg:

I've been out exploring and ended up staying 4 or 5 days with whatever is in the vehicle at the time. Sometimes in the desert it can get a little dirty, but usually there's someplace to rinse of the dust.:D

I have a checklist that I print off prior to every trip.. its tailored to either my Cruiser or the Tacoma... I simly go through first off and cross out the things I won't need... and then start packing. Its painfully obvious that I "overpack"... but I would rather have more than not enough ;)
