Any suggestions for things to do in Chicago? I will be there for a few days, and will have a few hours in the evening to kill. Last year I went to the Sears Tower, to the pier (maybe it has a name), and ate some good pizza :D Anything else good to do in Chicago besides eat pizza?

The only home game I would have a chance of seeing starts too early. But maybe I will see if I can see the stadium anyways. I wonder if they are open for tours or anything.

The White Sox are awesome right now. I'm not a baseball fan when it's on TV, but the a live game at the stadiums are sweet.

You're probably thinking of the Navy Pier, it's pretty cool & very well known. I took a late night boat ride around the waterways downtown Chicago when I was out there, it was very cool to see the buildings at night.

Yep Navy Pier is what it was called, it was pretty cool, lots of stuff going on there. Thanks for the heads up on the boat ride, maybe I will try that this time.

Most MLB parks (all the ones I've been to) will let people in for free after a certain inning (usually 5 or 6). Just head over there when you're done and catch the end of a game. Who could sit through an entire baseball game anyway?

Last time I visited the US mint as well. Pretty cool to see where they bring in literally truck loads of cash. Any other ideas?

When your downtown, look up Magnum's Steak House. I forget which street it is on, but the fillets and ribeye's are incredible. The best pizza in Chicagoland is in Des Plaines, just NW of O'hare at a hole in the wall called Allegretti's, aslo worth looking up. At least one night when your there, go down to Rush and Division downtown. Within 3 or 4 blocks of that intersection there are probably 25 bars. Even if your not a drinker, that is a wild place to check out. And if you are a drinker, bring home pictures for the rest of us to see. The M of S & I is cool if you make it that far south, (and don't go south after dark) and the view from the Hancock tower is better than the Sears tower. If you do want Pizza Downtown, Gino's east. And yes the best things to do there are eat and drink.

You don't need plans. :greg: Chicago is cool enough to just go walk around in. When we used to live near Aurora we would take the train in and just sightsee. The old and new architecture is amazing. Find a pretzel stand. The Hancock building is cool. The best time to be there is St Patricks day but that is a different story.

And you are from IL, you should know :D

I did not have as much time as I hoped to have. But I did go to the big city today and did an architect boat ride. It was better than I expected. There were many more tall building there than I expected to see, and the history and reasons for them was interesting. Also walked onto the Navy Pier. Cool place to visit, but I would hate to live there.
