My dad sold a horse trailer on friday. We live in kaysville the buyer lives in cortez colorado. I met the guy in spanish fork and he took the trailer and gave me a check (no I know that was a bad idea) I gave him the title. The guy calls my dad today leaves a message saying he can't find a vin# on the trailer and he put a stop payment on the check. What can we do?? My dad is the only owner of the trailer he won it in 93 it has been repainted since then and all we can think is the vin got painted over.

If worse comes to worse, call his local police department and tell them he stole your trailer. A lot faster than you driving up there and then you also have it on record in case the trailer ends up in someone elses hands.

Have you deposited the check? If not, talk to your bank about it. You may be able to deposit it anyway (be sure NOT to spend any of the money) and see if he really did put a stop on or just trying to scare you.

Pick up that trailer as fast as you can. Or go there with documentation and find the vin which is usually stamped on the frame then get the cash from him

If you do go, call the police department where he lives and arrange with them to go with you to his house. DON'T go all by yourself. A police officer will be your biggest asset if this ends up in court or otherwise (insurance, he said / she said, etc.).

It's just like real money, but its not, it's just paper And they can cancel this paper so it doesn't work. :-\

What make was it? Call the manufacturer and find out where they stamped the vin on it. Then call his local PD and have them go verify.

It was a charmac and it was located on the first crossmember back under the trailer
