What trail? Moab, easy, scenic, tomorrow.

The wife & I both have the day off tomorrow for MLK Day. We're thinking about running down to Moab for the day & exploring some places we haven't been before. We'll be in the Dodge so I'm not interested in anything too hard, but the truck does have 35's so we're not totally limited by a moderate trail.

I'd like to do the White Rim trail but we don't have enough time to cover 100 miles off-road. Another trail I'd be interested in would be Elephant Hill, but it's a long ways from Moab for a single-day trip. I'm thinking about staying in the area north or north/west of Moab, but that's not a requirement. Some of the similar trails we've done in this area are Hidden Canyon & Bartlett Overlook.

I've been checking out Bull Canyon, Taylor Canyon & Spring Canyon. They all seem within reason. Anyone been on either of those 3 trails & want to share their thoughts?

I've done Bull Canyon. It's cool (isn't that the one that goes to the bottom of Gemini Bridges?) but not real technical at all. You'd have no trouble in your Dodge (at least that I can remember). There was some fun sand down there.

Yep, that's the one... I read that the trail stays in a sandy wash most of the time & can be ran at a higher-speed. Seeing Gemini Bridges would be a neat treat. How much time do you think the trail would take, a half day? Thanks!

If I remember right, it's kind of slow going getting down into the bottom of the canyon. Maybe a half mile or so down a bedrock road, but then it's kind of higher speed. There's a cool amphitheater-like formation down there near the arches. It'd be kind of a cool place to camp if the weather was going to be good (I'm pretty sure I'd not want to be near there in a storm of any significance, though).

Sounds good! I think we'll combine Bull Canyon with Spring Canyon, that ought to be enough fun for a day's worth of exploring.

We used to camp in Bull Canyon right below Gemini Bridges. We drove in and out of there in no time. You could easily do Bull Canyon and Gemini Bridges in a few hours.

How ironic, I know of some other folks in that area wheeling their tow rig too....

I thought you guys would be heading home last night... guess I didn't ask. Want to run Bull Canyon, mabey something else too? Call me, we'll be heading out in less than an hour.

Good to know, we may just do that.
