I have a 75 cj5 and I am getting rid of the t15 and 20 combo that I have. That setup is way too high geared.

The jeep has an AMC 304 and will have a dana 300. What transmission will have a low ratio that will bolt in without having to buy an adapter?

It is getting a 6" rear stretch so a little longer transmission could work.

thanks

An AMC version TH400 should bolt right up to the engine all the AMC V8's had the same bellhousing pattern, not sure on the D300 though.

Ditto on the 400. I have a perfect one for sale, it has a 3 month old reverse manual valve body and a Dana 300 adapter and output shaft, just needs some internal work. PM if interested.

i am talking to a guy about a ford t18a with a dana 300 adapter rebuilt four years back. he wants 550, so its about the same as buying the adapter and paying shipping. the only bad part is that he lives in cali so shipping would be another 150 or so.

is this worth that much?

I wasn't even thinking about manuals for some reason. T18s are awesome. I have loved every t18 I have had.

i have a 81 cj8 with a t18a/d20 and it is fairly low geared. I think with the 300 and 5.38s in the axles I will be fine. Some time in the future I am thinking of a tera-low for the 300 but that can wait til after I finish.

thanks for all your input, sorry for bringing up a common question but all the things i pulled up in search was from around 2007 so i figured it wouldn't hurt to bring up again.

I plan on another t18a, now it is just finding one with an adapter for a good price. probably just going to end up paying for the one in cali.
