what wheelbase is too long?

helping a friend build a four door oneton chevy and we are planning on removing the bed and moving the rear axle as close to the cab as possible.
it will be running 42" iroks and giving them a couple inches of clearance from the back of the cab would make the wheelbase about 135"

we are also planning on doing a small body lift and lifting the drivetrain to get a completely flat belly. i figure this will definitely help the situation but i am not sure if he will be happy with that long of a wb. he wants to really beat on it and do some tough trails and not have to slide over everything.

another option is to cut into the back of the cab and get a more narrow bench seat and tub it in, we figure we could achieve more like 120" wb doing that.

I think a 4 door cab truck with one ton axles & 40"+ tires would be rad! I wouldn't cut into the cab, but do like you plan, putting the tires as close to the cab as you can. That's seriously 135" WB?! I'm 113" in my 4Runner & it works well for the 35" tires. I bet 135" with 42's would be a pretty balanced combination.

it should look a lot like that. except more cutting and cage... maybe no rear fenders too.
it doesn't look like the wheelbase is that long, i think it looks really proportionate

My truck ran a 132" wb and 38.5's with 2" lift for a few years and it would climb damn near any hill you pointed it at. Well as long as there wasn't a big breakover at the top. I got wedged at the top of the waterfall on upper helldorado, but with some boatsides i could have just driven right through.
