What would YOU do?

ok. Here's the situation:

My poor Burb started leaking out of the passenger side rear, near the head somewhere. It's hard as a !@#$!@$ to see in there, but I am surmising from the limited view that there is a leak at the manifold/head junction. No problem, pull the intake and replace, right? Well no. It was leaking for maybe a day, and during that day was driven perhaps 15miles? Not leaking badly.
However, about half the coolant was gone out of the radiator. The truck does not leak coolant anywhere else. I don't think it leaked all that out of the new hole, I suspect that the head gasket may be starting to go, since that's the exact symptom 2 other trucks I had (and beat the HELL out of as work trucks, they died with their boots on!).. using coolant for a while, and then poof head gasket goes.

would you:
1. replace the intake gaskets and seal everything up all nice?
2. dig further and replace the head gaskets?
3. Pull the motor out of your Blazer, which is getting revamped anyway and getting a 454, and just swap the whole motor out for a proper rebuild?

Keep in mind that this is my wife's DD and I'm about to leave for a while, if anything happens it's an expensive tow and repair.

Opine.... now.

#3 it is then.

The Blazer engine is a little newer, so I'll just go through the original Burb motor while it's out and keep it aside for later.

The work truck is getting a Cummins, so the 454 will round out the Blazer upgrades nicely I think LOL

thanks for the opinions!

don't follow me....
#3. Do it right. Have you found a donor motor yet? There was a 4BT in the Tribune today. Yeah, not enough power for you.....but, it would be great in that Cruiser you want to buy;-}

heheh

I've got my eye on some 4bt's... I think they WOULD be absolutely perfect for a Cruiser... I just want an offroad tractor LOL

The work truck motor, I made a deal with a guy back east for a complete
6bt GM conversion deal, everything I need to bolt it up and go. I'll probably install it in PA and road test it on the trip back LOL... with a pretty good load behind me.

hey now!

seriously though, if I can pull off a 2 or 3 day Cummins conversion, I'll be pretty stoked. If not, I'll STILL be pretty stoked... because I"ll have DIESEL POWER!! moooahahahah

and a 454 in the fun rig. YEEE HA
