Looks pretty killer. I think it would be trick to see someone make Independent work well and last. This thing definitely has beef. Dynatrac 60 centers....and look at those shafts! holy $hit!

We saw it TRY to perform in Farmington. The power output was embarrasing. the motor couldn't spin the 40" MTR's. We heard rumors soon after Farmington that it was going to be supercharged by the next event. Other than the huge lack of power, it seems to be pretty bad a$$.

I think that it is pretty cool looking, and it would be sweet to see a couple of independent rigs that actually work. But like others have said, I think that the choice of a 2.2(?) four popper was a bad decision. Petersens said that it was to save wieght, but I think that, that is one area were I would sacrifice a couple of pounds for the power to be able to spin the 40's.

With the resources available to him ($ and GM), that little 2.2 will not be the same. Hell, they've probably squeezed 300+ hp out of it by now... ;) I guess we'll see this week.

What I wonder is how much useable flex does it have? I think we will just have to see how it performs. I don't think somebody would spend that much money on a crawler just to have it be a complete piece of junk. Or maybe some people would?!

Whether or not you like Walker or his rig, they (Walker/GM) are doing valuable research that few can. OK, so you may not see it now, but SOME of these ideas trickle down and eventually make their way into recreational 4wheeling.

I think that Walkers new rig is pretty cool. It is pushing the boundries of technology in the rock-crawling sport. His team has been aroung the block a few times, so I think they have a pretty good idea of what they are doing. I love the suspension arms, and the custom axle set up drool-worthy.
Time will tell if it is the right direction or not, but it is a top notch rig any way you look at it.

BTW, Saw Vonski's rig on the TV the other night. It was in a short little shot at the Cedar City event. I think the program was called extreme 4x4's or something of that nature on TDC or TLC.

While it's true that there are some "faster" elements coming into play from time to time, in this case the lack of power isn't related to speed. It simply couldn't (at the time) produce enough power to drive up the steep hills.

I think he has done a good job with it. He has clearance with the fully independent suspension, but how well will it flex?

I also read in a magazine that if Independent suspensions are set up right, they are the way to go.... What do you think about that?

Sweet shafts!

the engineering on that thing is amazing...it would make anyone drool...but as von stated it is WAY under powered...on my obstacle he could even break the tires loose...his spotter was deffinitely hating it...the flex is really wierd flex...instead of flexing in an arc it goes straight up and down...really wierd...personally I dont like the whole independant suspension idea...I think for our sport solid axle is the way to go...too many parts with that setup...who saw his steering...talk about crazy...

I personaly think that it is a big step for the Indepents. But I would want it. bling bling. needs more power, and we will see how he ends the season. only time will tell.
