Like Von said, they are trying to pioneer new stuff, but I don't really see why. What applications can engineering from Walkers rig be used on? An SUV? Seems a little ovekill for any street pounder.

.......regardless of what anyone thinks, (likes or doesn't)...the rig doesn't work.......IMHO:mad: ......I'd be pissed...but then again I dont have enough money to try and reinvent the wheel.... :D

Doesn't impress me. Saw it in Moab during EJS. I find it to be just a good example of having too much money at your disposal you make the worst idea work.

I'm more impressed by the guy building his rig himself. So what if it's not the most or nearly the most capable. If he or she turned the wrench to build it then I'm impressed.

Walker evans rig does suck! besides the fact it is independent, IT HAS A CRAWL RATIO OF LIKE 44.5:1!!!!!
EVERYBODY THINKS THAT IT DOESN'T ROCK CAUSE OF HIS ECOTECH 4 CYL BUT IT IS THE GEARS!!! YOU CAN RUN A 4 CYL IF YOU GEAR IT RIGHT. IMHO. I HOPE WE CAN ALL AGREE (GO SAMURAIS). BUT YEAH HIS RIG IS IN ONE OF THE NEW MAGS THIS MONTH, HE HAS A 3.8 ATLAS 2 AND 5.38 DIFFS, AND HIS 2 SPEED TRANNY MUST BE PRETTY HIGH CAUSE HIS CRAWL RATIO SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS!!!!!!

crawl ratio is one thing...polishing a cost saving turd of an idea "IFS" is another thing altogether.....nobody is being competetive with it. some have tried it and gone back....and QUICKLY I MIGHT ADD!!

I give that rig 2 more competetions and then expect to see it mothballed!!

OK just read the artical today.

You clones crack me up..... Yes walker has the money to re-invent the wheel.

You are harping on the IFS but yet who knows more about putting an IFS'd 4wd or 2wd vehicle through UTTER HELL than a desert racer. So far it seems the motor and crawl ratio are the issues.

How did the thing climb/ stick to the rocks when it would actually climb? was it all "goofie" and unstable like some skychrome invention? or did it do what it was saposed to in the suspention department?

Lastly am I the ONLY one that saw the big CV's from dynatrack or whoever and didn't think about the next bullet proof birf?

I think I like it. The IFS is different from anything I have ever seen and looks like it will not have the disadvantages of the tortion bar or coilspring/Aarm setups used in the past. As for the engine if it is underpowered I am sure that it will be taken care of. I like the idea of a powerglide and have been thinking for years about how it might be the best auto for a shortwheelbase rockcrawler. I also think it looks good.

Those joints are 6" in diameter they are not going to fit in your toy knuckles. You better make up with Mr Long and order some spare longfeilds.

No sh!t sherlock on the size difference.. but what if they were made the same size as toys? I don't figure there a fawkin drop in replacement.. Lets see if he breaks the cv's in comps this year.. if not it may be worth looking into.
