Well, By concensus, what does everyone think the best wheelbase ought to be?
I'm getting ready to stretch the frame on my CJ5. I'm thinking around 108in. I'll be using WT D44's w/ at least 35in rubber.

It really depends on what you are planning on doing with your project. For climbing it seems that longer is better, but at some point the length starts to hurt your manuverability. It seems the majority of competition buggies are between 100" and 110", with most around the lower end of that range.

For the type of rockcrawling I enjoy (traversing large rock fields and a few climbs) I think around 103" is pretty good.

For the rocks I run I have set up my scrambler at 104 inches.... My frame rails and flatbottom skidplate only sits 21 inches off the ground with 35 inch tires.... I love the wheelbase but with the longer wheelbase and low lift I do tend to end up on my frame rails and skid plate quite a bit....

If you are only going to 35's, I would stop at 100". MY cj5 is at 108" but I have 38" tires.
