When I was a kid my father always told me that if I wasn't good and didn't study and stuff like that. That I would end up working at millers my whole life. (Millers is a meat processing plant south of Logan in Hyrum that smells. They kill and butcher cows all day.)
At other times growing up I heard my father use the term S.O.L. When I was young i asked him what this meant. He said that it stood for South Of Logan. Now me, knowing that Millers was south of logan figured out that this was not a good thing. So if you were SOL that meant that you were going to be working at millers the rest of your life, or rather just a metafor (SP) for something bad.
When I was 19, I entered the MTC (Thats the Missionary training center, for all you heathens) and I heard some one else use the term S.O.L. To date, a term I had only ever heard my father use. Now, i knew that this person was from another state and I could not figure out how in the world he knew about Millers and having to work there for the rest of your life. So I asked him if knew my father and where he knew the that term from. So he explained what S.O.L. really meant.
Needless to say, I was a little dissapointed.
That is all.
