Where can I find used/cheap 50 gallon drums:

I am looking for a few 50 gallon grums, used cheap... Hopefully I can find some that havent been used for oil or gasoline so they can be welded. Unless anyone has any brilliant ideas to weld things that have contained flamables.

This may sort of belong in the WTB yardsale but I wasnt sure anyone here would have any of these available and I know this section will get more traffic. I am looking for some guidance to find these...

Check your local jiffy lube or similar type oil change shop. They buy washer fluid in 50 gallon drums (easily rinced out and cleaned) and usually have a few in the basement that they are more than happy to get rid of.

If that guy cant hook you up, you might want to try one of the many truck terminals in your area, everything they get is in 50gal drums.

welding oil drums

run the exhaust from the welder into the barrel for awhile before cutting/welding and you should be just fine. Remove both bungs to do it. I've seen welders do that when repairing oil tanks when I worked for a oil company. Pick a drum which had oil not fuel for added safety
