Ok my son is wanting to go with us next year and being broke most his life needs to save up for the trip... so what I would like to know is where you stayed, when you stayed and how much you paid and if you got a discount how much and why? So I can start having him save up for next year....

I got lucky this year and was able to use my mileage from holiday inn express and got two nights free which I used March 31 and April 1...

Cabins at any of the campgrounds are fairly cheap. Last I hear about $45 a night.

I stayed at LaQuinta on the south of end of town for $115 a night.

The cabins at the first campground you pass after crossing the bridge (sorry can't recall the name, somebody help me out here) has real nice cabins. I don't know if they're all the same there, but the one I was in had heat, A/C, and a bathroom. Seems like they were $50-$60 a night durring EJS so probably cheaper at other times.

The Portal had cabins, but tore them down and is building cottages or something. They are selling them along with an RV site for something like $125,000. I guess they will also rent them for the owners while they are not there, but don't know how much for. I used to love the Portal cause they had that huge field to park tow rigs and trailers in, but now it is all cement with those cottages.

And I stayed at KOA once and will never ever go there again.
