Where has my Jeep been in Helldorado

So from this pic by the PO it looks like my Jeep has been in Upper Helldorado:
Jeep2-1.jpg

What would this Jeep have had to have gone through to get to this point in upper Helldorado? At this time the Jeep would have had 33" tires and the swing out tire carrier that sticks out quite a bit. I am sure that he was winching up this spot. From the youtube vids I have seen of this area, that might explain why the skid plate is smashed, the front driveline was bent, a rear Dana 44 axle shaft had some twisted spines, and some random body damage on the sides and the roll bar padding. I am sure someone can tell me what this Jeep would have had to have gone through.

On 33"s? Those look like at least 35"s and getting to that point on 33"s would be hard. I had a hard time on 39"s.

The spare tire on that carrier is a BFG mud terrain 33x12.5x15 which the PO gave me in the sale. So I would assume that the rest would be 33's. he did change to 35" Super Swampers after the BFGs

He would have gone through a twisty little canyon section at the very beginning. Then an off-camber section that rubbed the padding off your roll bar. Then over a big-ass rock that smashed the skid plate (and possibly the driveline), before smashing the hell out of the bumper. Then fairly uneventful dry riverbed up to the point you see. I took a YJ through on 33s once. It sucked.

Those do look like 35s in the pic though.

Oh geez... that is awesome that I can now probably trace back the majority of the damage to this trail. Are there names of those obstables you listed? I am sure I can youtube those spots and see what it took to get through. It's nice to know that my rig can make it in this area... although I am thinking that I will look at trails in Moab that will be a challenge but not cause so much damage as did Helldorado.

The spare is a 33" but the tires on it could be 35"s... if I talk with the PO I will ask about it.

judging by the looks of that jeep if the guy you bought it from was named faux(which i'm 99% sure it was) i can point out a few dents i put in it lol

Yessir, I am slowly putting in the needed fixes... PM me if you'd like or post on this thread... but I'd love to hear about this Jeep's past history. Dents, Dings and all.

Why does this thread make me laugh? The more you find out about the Jeep the more you may wish you hadn't. Just use it and if something breaks because it was beat on a bit fix it. Looks like a nice Jeep.

The PO had told me that he 'wheeled the hell out of it', I was warned about what I was getting into.

It came down to the investment, I was going to build up my wife's stock '92 YJ to be a decent trail machine. This '94 was avaialble here locally at the right price with the right parts. So, with all the 'goodies' on this '94 I would have never been able to build up my wifes Jeep to be as capable as this one for the price. I made the deal and bought the '94, Sold my wifes '92 for $3,000 and really now don't have too much money into this one. So I think it has been a good 'investment' as far as a jeep goes. I would hope to learn a bit about it so I make good decisions on the upgrades as time goes by.

What mods does it have?

The dates on the pics in the first post are in 2007 and the trail has changed a LOT from then to now. In fact it changes year to year, sometimes making obstacles easier, but mostly harder. The first obstacle is the gatekeeper, and the in these more current pics above it was a tough year. The middle pic is the breakover and that's a good bet for your bent drive line and tweaked drive shaft.

I'm definitely with you on that one, every year it changes. I think it was 2006 or 2007 when the Gatekeeper washed out and was really nasty for a while.

So is what your saying is you think this trail would not be possible with my runner? As it currently stands proably not but, but in the near future many changes are coming:D

You know what makes me smile on this thread is the fact that the PO said he wheeled the hell out of it and you still bought it. Something in the line of rode hard, put away wet comes to mind. The fact that it has ARBs gives you atleast a $2K headstart, then you add gearing and all the steering modes, you probably did come out okay. When I look for jeeps on KSL or anywhere else, If I see pictures of them in Moab I look but don't buy. It does sound like you have a good headstart on your jeep. Enjoy it and I say go give Helldorado another shot on 33's. :)
