I have been a bad husband. I have not taken my wife on a nice vacation for a long time. I just got a killer bonus at work so the time is at hand. She likes Mexico but I have never been. Online reviews are hard to interpret so I thought I'd ask my best internet advisers:)

Cozumel looks pretty awesome to me from google views but I could be talked out of it.

I'm thinking drinking by the beach type of vacation if that helps.

So, where does RME like to go and what resorts do they like to stay at? Also what site does everyone use to book their trips.

My marriage thanks you in advance.

We always go to playa del Carmen. Been there 3-4 times. Not in busy Cancun but close enough to see it and experience it for a night. We stay at Mayan Palace, Grand Mayan, and Sandos. Sandos was all inclusive so it was great. Cozumel and Mazatlan were both pretty boring to us with not much to offer. Puerto Vallarta is also a fun one. More jungle type terrain but still plenty of beaches.

Tysons suggestion on Playa Del Carmen is a great one. Cozumel is nice. I would stay out of Mazatlan and Acapolco, the Pacific side of Mexico isn't as pretty Costa Rica is beautiful and you have this you could possibly do.

Cancun. I love being in the city, great restaurants and shopping (Ojos Negros is my favorite), sometimes spending the whole time in an all inclusive gets boring to me.
If you don't like the city (like Cascadia) you can stay anywhere in the Mayan riviera (like Playa del Carmen) and be happy.
Go to the ruins at Tulum and Chichenitza.
xel ha And x-caret are beautiful Nature adventure parks as well!

Playa Del Carmen is a blast, I've been three times most recently about a month ago. We stayed at Sandos this last trip, not sure if it was the same one Cascadia stayed at but it was by far the worst resort i've stayed at.

This place is adults only, little higher on the price but super nice - http://www.valentinmaya.com

This one is moderately priced good food, awesome beach nice pool as well. - http://www.iberostar.com/hoteles/riviera-maya/iberostar-tucan

This is the last place we stayed, great beach, okay food, service was meh, worst part of all it was a 15 min walk from our room to the beach, and about 10 min to most of the restaurants - http://www.sandos.com/hotel-playacar-in-playa-del-carmen.htm

Judging by the pics that's not the one we went to. I know there are a bunch of Sandos resorts.
