Where would you live?

I am moving to UT from the east coast in a couple of months. I could live anywhere in the state since I will be working out of a home office a lot of the time. I lived in UT in 2007 and then I was in Draper.

I thought it would be cool to live in MOAB but I am not sure if there are any nice apartments there and it's so out there it might prove to be impractical for the times I actually do have to travel. I have only gone wheeling in MOAB and I never took notice of the town.

Where would you recommend I look and why? I am looking to rent at first.

Thank you.

I have picked out a pink house cattywumpus from Milt's in Moab that I would live in. But I love Moab and am quite partial to the color pink. :)

Anyhoo.....how often would you need to travel and do you like small towns?

If I had to live out in the sticks, Cedar City would be my choice. Pretty cool little town and close to St George, Vegas with some pretty good local wheeling to boot.

I'd live in Cedar City... love it there. A place on 10 acres out in Parowan would be great!

Wow, I envy your situation soooo much. Personally, I would live somewhere like Enterprise, Beaver, Parowan, Escalante, Laketown, or Paradise. But I like small as far from people as possible.

If you want to be somewhere a little bigger or closer to cites, Heber/Midway or Hurricane/LaVerkin both rock

I was born and raised (first 10 years or so) in Cedar and I've had family there up till last year. I wouldn't live there ever again. :D That's a messed up inbred town :p

If I could live anywhere it would be in a cabin in the mountains all by myself. Ideally one that gets snowed in, in the winter  (I'm serious though :D)

Do you like zoobies?
There are always apartments available in Provo.

I'd live in Kanab again if I had a choice in the matter.

Ephraims pretty cool, maybe im partial. Hard to find work, sounds like it dont matter in your case. surrounded by mountains and canyons. not far from Moab,(3 hrs) Cedar City,(2.5 hrs) SLC (2hrs) Cheap living expences, small enough to enjoy yet big enough to have a Walmart. one stop light in town. and home of Snow College.

OK, I have no idea what the first sentence means! I really like MOAB and I would go down there a couple times each month when I was living in Draper. I always stayed at Red Cliffs or the Holiday Inn and the only incursion into the town of MOAB I really made was to Pasta Jays. :D

About once per month I'll have to drive around the state to visit accounts in Salt Lake, Logan, St George etc. and twice per year I'll have to travel to all the rockies ID, MT, WY and CO. I know it makes the most sense to live off I-15 but MOAB is REALLY off I 15.

As far as small towns, at this point I don't care because it will be just me for the first year or so. In the next year I'll have to buy something and there will be children so all of the adult considerations like school systems access to healthcare and whatnot.

I am looking to rent something in 2008 and I have not seen any rental properties in MOAB. I am going to be in UT during the last week of Jan and I am driving in from CO so my plan was to dip down into MOAB and check it out.

Thank you

I thought Heber was really nice looking when I drove through on my way to Soldier Hollow. Are the other towns you list in the same region of the state?

St George is one of the high rent districts of UT if I remember correctly. I just found out that St George isn't my territory, the rep from AZ covers it. It was a city I was considering though.

You must be living on the wrong side of the tracks Meat. ;)
I like living in Lehi. :D

With that being said, I love the Midway / Heber area. I could also go to Caleb's idea of living alone in a mountain cabin. Mine would be impenetrable by the most dedicated of Jehova's Witnesses.

If St George is not in your area, then I'd rule it out and Cedar, although I'd live in both. If I was in your situation and being close to a major airport wasn't a consideration my picks would be like this.
Moab,St George, Heber/Midway, Huntsville....
