Any of the RME mtn bikers been to Fruita to ride?
I finally picked up a bike last week (Rocky Mountain Slayer) and Catherine got a hardtail for Christmas from Santa. We rode some of the local trails on saturday, I was very impressed with the trails that have been built around here. The guys in the bike shops say Fruita is 'the next Moab' & I believe it. There's over a hundred trails within 20 minutes of town. We rode Rustlers Loop on saturday and the trail developers spent a lot of time laying it out. There were neat build features like laying a thick slab of rock over deep washes to form a bridge, rather than crashing thru the bottom of the wash. Today we checked out the North Fruita area up by 18 Road and there's literally miles of riding to be had.
We're probably going out again this week, but we're taking it slow at first. Catherine hasn't done much mtn biking & I haven't been on a bike in about 3 yrs, so we're trying to get into the swing of things. I forgot how fun it is to be on a bike.
