I was thinking that my brother could purchase the dies since I will be buying the bender. I think that I want the 1 1/2", 1 3/4", and the 2" dies. I like what buckingbronco did for the inch and a half die and I can see doing that if we did not have that die. But, since I am trying to branch out more and more into the off road world I think I will go ahead and purchase all three dies. I can't think of a reason why I would need any other sizes for now.

Unless you plan to really cater to fullsizes, I'd skip the 2". Do the 1.5" and 1.75" but do a smaller one. Something that can be used for racks, bumper/cage "add-ons", etc.

Eric has a 2" die. Im not sure if he has ever used it or not tho.

I think you would be set with just the 1.5" and the 1.75"

If you get the protools I also have a 1" die that hardly gets used. I would be willing to ship it to you to let you use if you need it. Ship it back when your done. No sense in buying one if we can share right???

Me personally, no I wouldn't get the 2"...even if I drove a fullsize. I really think 2" is just added cost and weight to just about any rig. A lot of the fullsize guys seem to think they need 2" though. Like I said before, I would skip the 2", get the 1.5" and 1.75" and a smaller die (I hate borrowing tools :))

I'm using a borrowed JD2 1.75" die, and because of the hole spacing difference they mention in that article, the tube is angled differently when it's sitting in the bender. That also means the start-of-bend point on the die is different than it would be in a JD2 bender. No big deal either way, and I've bent quite a few things with it with no issues. (front and rear bumpers on my 4runner, rocksliders, parts of my Willys chassis...)

I've also used a 2" die that I'm pretty sure is a JD2 die, also no problem.
