Which die?

I will be getting two:

1.25" in either 3.5 or 4.5 radius?
is 3.5 too tight? they are the same price.

1.75" I think I will go with the 5.5 -180.

Also. should I just go through JD2 for the purchase? and how much was the shipping for 2 dies and the bender?

tighter radius ones. and just call jd aget it straight from them.

I personally would go as tight of radius as you can...personal preference though.

The shipping is pricey, I was surprised at how much it was and I only got a single die with the bender. Dont remember how much it was though. I think most end up just going directly through JD2 after they shop around a little...I went through them because they could get it to me the quickest of any place. Most are similar in price if not the exact same so I would get it from whoever can get it to ya the quickest.

Just remember, you want the radius of the bend to be atleast 3x the size of the tube you're bending. Otherwise, it can collapse the inside of the bend. ;)

1.25 x 3.5 might be pushing it.

how would this affect different thicknesses? Thin wall less or more likely?

JD2,
Two Dies,
Bender,
Notcher,

$100.00 for shipping.

When you feel the weight of the bender and the dies you will think you got a good deal on shipping.

I don't know...

I was talking to one of the guys at Van Sant & he mentioned that to me. I was debating between a 1 5/8" x 4.5 or 1 5/8" x 5.5 and asked him about the pro's & con's of the diffrent dies. He mentioned the kinking thing, so I went with the 5.5" radius.

Good point,

I also stayed with the 5.5... Couldn't think of any reason I would need a 4.5,,, just to sharp for me.

So on a 1.25", would you guys go with the 4.5? there is a 5.5 available, but for such a small tube....

the 1.5 die with the 4.5 radius worked great for the hero cage. We used HREW and had no problems with kinking or distortion. getting below that might get a little tricky.

if you go to thier site it will tell you the miniumn wall thickness per die set
yeah, but most of thos are .058 at 4.5 and larger on this die.
.058, what is that? electrical conduit?
