I'll do that, but here's MY question: What on God's green earth made you search for a thread that predates your join date by 7 YEARS to put your post in???

I searched to make sure I wasn't re-posting, found it, and decided what I added was relevant.

Still have an Atari in the original box. Used to have a ton of games until my brother gave them to his in-laws . . . they still play them
Anyone remember when the TI came out?

We had a TI-99. I remember my Dad used a special cassette recorder & tape to store programs (code) that he had created. I seem to also remember odd fax tone like sounds from the Tape as it Played them. Hunt the Wumpus and Tombstone were the best. Oh the Good Ol Days. I actually still have the TI, an Atari 800 XL, Atari 2600, Magnavox Odyssey & 3 Full Size Arcade Games. My name is Brad and Yes I have a Problem.

I have this fun little toy that I drag out from time to time... Atari Flashback 2 even uses the original paddles and joysticks. I ought to look for the paddle set... Great little CHEAP time waster. And best yet, if you're into hacking, then the designers (original 2600 folks) made it possible to include a socket to accept ORIGINAL 2600 cartridges and a switch to choose between the built in games and cartridges. I regret ever giving away my old 2600 and 50+ games.

Oh, the Flashback even has Pong and River Raid...

Its OK Brad, you're among friends...

I had pong as a kid - black and white, spinner paddle controller things. Then Atari 2600, followed by Commodore 64 then Amigas..... I don't play console games any more, but if I can come up with a cabinet that the wife will approve of (probably something where the screen and controllers rotate out from the top) I want to build a media and game cabinet for our entertainment room. Use XBMC as a front end setup for TV (think NFL with company), music juke box and most important, M.A.M.E. arcade gaming.

M.A.M.E. cabinet would be cool. I've often thought about building one, but my woodworking skills are quite limited. I'd love a cocktail table though. Or one of the sit inside cabinets. When I was close to building a cabinet when I lived in Nevada, I wound up with tons of ROMs. Thanks to friends in really low places... I do have N64 emulator on my laptop, and a NES emulator on my Android phone... I won't say I was all that good at the games, but its a lot more fun to play them whehn it doesn't cost me a mint in quarters...
